The adventure was born from the car passion of Giuseppe Cipriani, grandson and homonymous of the founder of Harry’s Bar, the well-known bar of Venice which was founded in 1931 and among its habitues there was Ernst Hemingway and other Vips
In 1988, Cipriani debuted on American circuits after continuing his career in the Italian Formula 3 Championship among 1989 and 1990. The turning point comes in the following season, when, in addition to the family commitments, Cipriani decides to found a International Formula 3000 car racing team, a second division close to Formula One series.
Barone Rampante team born in this way and his name derives from the popular novel of Italo Calvino.
The Formula V8 3.5 was born at the end of the 1990s, precisely in 1998, and in twenty years it has become one of the main preparatory categories for drivers who dream the Formula One.
Some of the most famous protagonists of the Formula One World Championships who took part to Formula V8 are Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Heikki Kovalainen, Robert Kubica, Pastor Maldonado, Marc Genè, Thiago Monteiro, Carlos Sainz, Kevin Magnussen and many others.
Some Formula One V8 racers are attending now other world championships such as WEC where we find Brendon Hartley, Stephane Sarrazin, Antonio Garcia, Oliver Jarvis, Filipe Albuquerque, Stephane Richelmi, Sam Bird, Olivier Webb, Rui Aguas.
Also in the IndyCar we find pilots who ran in Formula V8: Will Power, Mikhil Aleshin, Simon Pagenaud, Carlos Huerta and Pippa Mann, while Miguel Molina, Nico Muller, Robert Wickens and Antonio Felix Da Costa are in the DTM.
The Barone Rampante team returns to footlights after the great results of the early nineties, when the Italian team was so close to the Formula 3000 Intercontinental Title between 1991 and 1993.
The team, who take part to the Formula V8 3.5 championship, is led by the Technical Manager Ferdinando Ravarotto, a unconditioned professional who has worked and won with drivers and international teams, like Nelson Piquet, Giancarlo Fisichella, Rinaldo Capello.
He has collaborated with the most important teams in Formula 3, Formula 3000 and also Formula One, and with his Formula 3 team was the absolute protagonist with several gained titles in the Italian Formula 3 Championship and also in the European Championships in the eighties and nineties.
The sports management of the team is entrusted to Modesto Benegiamo, seasoned Sports Manager already present in the Barone Rampante team in the early 1990s, who has collaborated with numerous teams in Formula 3 and Formula 3000 championships.
